Nothing is difficult...

...to the brave and faithful.

This is our family motto. Over the years it has provided a lot of strength to our family when we've been through tough times. I still use it all the time. It's a bit of a cliche, but I like a tradition and it is a reminder to me that nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it. I'm meant to be on school holidays, but haven't had a chance to have a break yet. I've been suffering from some anxiety about work and turned many molehills into mountains in my mind. Some of the work problems seemed insurmountable, but yesterday I reminded myself that nothing is difficult to the brave and faithful and today I feel a whole lot better. (Thanks also to Nettie for the reality checks). Sometimes you just have to face your problems head on and harden up! So this is what I am trying to do. When I've complained to Kelv about different problems I've faced or new challenges at work, he has sometimes responded by saying, "you just have to be big enough to deal with it". Sounds callous doesn't it, but he is absolutely right - one of those 'Kelvinism' I can't complain about.

Enough ramblings, but I'm curious to know what mottos you resort to...

oh my god, is that you sitting on your dad's lap??? How much does that little girl look like Belle???
My thoughts on your post are these:
1. you need to sometimes tell your friends what you need - sometimes you need to say , i need to talk about my shit, my stuff, and i need advice, or i don't need advice, i just need to debrief or whatever.
2. remember this quote (as I have on my wall at work when I deal with so much conflict): "conflict occurs when a persons values, needs or identity are threatened, challenged or undermined". Apply this theory to any conflictual/tense scenario and you can suddenly find your way. Well, it often works for me!
3. When you are in a management and leadership role, you are often on your own. Colleagues who are also in similar roles are either incompetent, too busy or unavailable, so you are often left to work through things on your own. Remember that you are amazing, that you can do it, just trust in your abilities and your decision making.
4. Remember you are human. YOu work to live, not live to work. Work is very important and part of who you are but your family comes first. If you screw up at work, it will all be there tomorrow. Never stop learning.

And lastly, LAUGH.

love you
